Aretha Franklin to be Honoured with a Street Name

The Queen of Soul, Aretha Franklin, is to be honoured in her hometown of Detroit at the upcoming and first instalment of the Detroit Music Weekend.

Exactly where is unknown and when the change will happen is unknown, but reports say it will definitely get announced on May the 4th, as part of the council releasing more details about the whole festival.

Franklin will be headlining a free outdoor show at the Detroit Music Weekend, which is scheduled in for June 8-11, featuring a collection of local music acts and arts.

Franklin isn't the only star to be honoured with a street name, joining Berry Gordy Boulevard, Glenn Frey Drive in Royal Oak, and the recently christened Stevie Wonder Avenue.

To top it off this will be Aretha's second street in Detroit, after already boasting Aretha Avenue.
